NetSpend Holdings Inc. is continuing to expand distribution of its prepaid cards through automobile insurers with a new marketing agreement it announced March 24.
Assurance Systems Inc. of Norcross, Ga. will include in its Accu-Auto software service an option for independent agents to order their clients a NetSpend card, which they may use to pay their premiums and to make purchases. Through the marketing deal, more than 2,000 insurance agents will be able to order the prepaid cards.
NetSpend’s prepaid cards are similar to traditional debit cards and are issued by partner banks, primarily to underbanked consumers. Using NetSpend’s cards could help consumers avoid paying fees for money orders and wire transfers to pay for insurance and other expenses, NetSpend said in a press release.
NetSpend has been focusing on auto insurers in recent months as a way to sell more cards.
