OTI to support mobile EMV in bulk-item vending machines

On Track Innovations will provide mobile EMV payment acceptance for the large cage-type vending machines that Outdoor Vending Solutions uses to sell bulk items at various sites within state parks in Texas.

Israel-based OTI and Arizona-based Apriva, which will provide the payment gateway, will partner with Texas-based Outdoor Vending Solution and its exclusive contract with Texas Parks and Wildlife to deliver otiKiosk cashless technology to the sites.

The large vending cages provide items like firewood, bags of charcoal and cases of bottled water at the parks. OVS also targets big-box retailers and convenience stores for unattended propane tank sales and exchanges.

OTI provides the payments technology on the vending machines as well as the telemetry needed to monitor the product availability at the site and obtain transaction data from remote locations.

“This is indicative of our strategy to further expand our business activity in the U.S.,” OTI CEO Shlomi Cohen said in an April 17 press release. “We are providing pre-certified, off the shelf cashless payment solutions that are very cost-effective."

The company expects to deploy thousands of the otiKiosk cashless payments systems over the next two years, Cohen added.

OTI has spent the past few years targeting mobile payment technology for city parking garages, but has also expanded its cashless payments and Near Field Communication technology to wearables such as the Ring of Things.

That technology is part of the company's PayEnable platform designed to serve connected jewelry, appliances and other products.
