PayPoint plc's PayByPhone has acquired Adaptis Services Ltd. and entered into a partnership with the City of Paris to bring mobile payments to 155,000 parking spaces.
The acquisition will expand PayByPhones menu of services through a suite of Adaptis products, the Vancouver-based PayPoint says in a May 15 press release.
Adaptis' Dash processing platform allows merchants to accept payments for parking services using electronic parking permits, automatic license plate recognition and other technologies. These services will be added to PayByPhones urban mobility payment solution that supports parking, tolling, taxis, EV charging and bike rentals.
The acquisition is part of an ongoing business strategy that "strengthens our leading position in the parking and urban mobility sectors" through technology and staff, says Kush Parikh, president of PayPoint North America, in the release.
Through its work with the City of Paris, PayByPhone will provide integrated services with VINCI Park, a parking technology developer.
Under the terms of the contract, PayByPhone will launch cashless parking services in central Paris this summer and expand to other residential and business parking areas by the fall. It will expand to more areas of the city by the end of 2015. PayByPhone initially brought its phone parking payment service to France in 2009 and also serves markets in North America, Europe and Australia.
