Web development tools PayPal launched for U.S. customers in March, are now available outside the U.S. to support PayPal payments in multiple currencies, says John Lunn, global director of the PayPal Developer Network, in an Aug. 1 blog post.

PayPal's application programming interface is based on the representational state transfer, or REST, style of client-server software architecture.

Developers in the U.S., the U.K. and Canada also have the ability to handle credit card transactions using the REST API. PayPal plans to support credit card transactions through these tools in other countries "as soon as possible," Lunn says.

"We will continue releasing new developer capabilities throughout the year," he says.
