Paypros Adds Encrypted Card Reader

Payment Processing Inc., a Newark, Calif.-based independent sales organization specializing in software applications, says it is now offering to software developers a card reader that encrypts sensitive transaction data at the point of sale. Typical readers do no encrypt that data. The product, called the PPI PayMover Encrypted Swipe, includes the decryption service and a software-development kit. The reader, supplied by Seal Beach, Calif.-based MagTek Inc., sells for $129. Santa Ana, Calif.-based technology distributor Ingram Micro Inc. is the first reseller to include the service with its products, Payment Processing says.
