Sterling Bank of Asia says it has begun issuing credit and debit cards with a contact chip that complies with the global EMV fraud-protection standard. The bank issues Visa-branded cards. The bank claims the cards will be the first EMV standard cards in the country. "The new cards aim to help cardholders control their funds as more and more are falling in the traps of big debt due to credit card bills," the bank says in a statement. The bank plans to issue 100,000 Visa prepaid and debit cards by the end of the year.
