PlanetSoho, which sells online management tools for small and home office businesses, or SOHOs, is enabling clients to mail physical bills by clicking a button on its website via a new service called Snail Mail. PlanetSoho also added a scheduling tool for recurring payments.

PlanetSoho charges $1 per invoice to handle Snail Mail invoices, though members of a premium service can send a set number of invoices for no cost. The premium features also include an online storefront, custom domain name, group email marketing, legal documents and a $100 Google AdWords credit.

While a number of companies such as Vantiv, Square, PayPal and Leaf are targeting small businesses with automated payment solutions, PlanetSoho is targeting businesses that remain paper-based. In a May 16 release announcing Snail Mail, the company cited a 2012 research report from NACHA that reported 42% of businesses with less than $750,000 in annual revenue still receive checks as a form of payment.

“In this digital age, it’s easy to forget that small businesses accept over 10 billion handwritten checks every year. Our online payment system makes it easy for members to accept payment any way their customers want to pay, including checks,” said Matt Weeks, vice president and general manager of ecosystem at PlanetSoho, in a release.
