QuickPay Takes Its Mobile Parking Payment App to Portland

Motorists in downtown Portland, Ore. will be able to pay for parking using a QuickPay Corp. mobile app at City Center Parking meters starting in September.

San Francisco-based QuickPay's app lets consumers find and pay for a parking spot. Consumers get text alerts when their time is running low and can remotely add time.

City Center Parking is a unit of Imperial Parking Corp (ImPark). Impark, which bought City Center in December, operates about 180 parking facilities in the Portland area.

“When we initially acquired City Center Parking, we set expectations that we would be improving the parking experience in Portland, and replacing many of the older pay-stations was just the start,” says Kobie Brandt, senior vice president at ImPark, in an Aug. 2 press release. “We are pleased to now introduce mobile payments with QuickPay. This has the potential to offer people in Portland the ability to pay at any City Center Parking location from a single app on their phone.”

The mobile payment method will be available at five parking facilities this summer with rollouts to other locations by the end of the year.  The app is available on both Android and iOS handsets, and Windows and Blackberry phone users can use a browser-based app and text messages.

QuickPay unveiled its payment technology last year. Several other companies provide mobile payment apps for parking, including Vancouver-based PayByPhone and Foster City, Calif.-based Streetline Inc.
