SafetyPay will work to simplify the bank’s online-banking platform through a secure direct-payment method, enabling consumers to shop online and pay through their own online bank account, SafetyPay says.

The partnership also helps Banco Nacional alleviate cross-board payment issues and enable its customers to make purchases from merchants globally using a bank account instead of a credit card, Banco Nacional noted in the release.

SafetyPay has established relationships with banks in Europe and Latin America and says it will gain 1 million banking customers through this partnership.

In August, SafetyPay began testing its online payment platform in the United States (see story).
