Seamless, InComm Combine Mobile Payments with Prepaid in U.S.

Sweden's Seamless has entered into an agreement with InComm that will enable the Atlanta, Ga.-based company to offer digitized versions of reloadable closed-loop cards.

InComm will use Seamless’ SEQR, a mobile wallet offered in 30 countries that facilitates more than 3.1 billion transactions annually. The companies will launch their combined offering in the U.S. first.

InComm  offers stored-value cards from more than 500 brand partners in the U.S. The partnership will enable the company to digitize its gift cards and sell digital content (such as song downloads and books) directly to consumers through the SEQR app.

The partnership enables retailers "to foster loyalty among a customer base that’s constantly on-the-go and looking for new ways to purchase favorite songs, games, gift cards and more for themselves and others,” says Dave Etling, senior vice president of sales and account management for InComm Digital Solutions, in a June 30 press release. 

InComm's addition of mobile technology was in part driven by findings from a November 2013 consumer survey it commissioned. The survey showed that 46% of Americans are interested in storing digital gift cards on their phones and 40% prefer to have a digital gift card scanned from their phone rather than carry a printout of an email.
