The deployment will start immediately, and users will be able to make payments and connect to the pharmacy's loyalty program via a SEQR's mobile app. The chain has 163 locations in Sweden.

"SEQR gives our customers access to a more smooth and fast way of paying and we see the integration with our loyalty program as a big benefit. We will begin the use of SEQR in selected stores before Christmas and will gradually roll out to other stores during next year," says Ola Ebenhart, CIO of Apoteksgruppen, in a Dec. 18 press release.

Seamless, a Stockholm-based mobile payments company, offers a mobile wallet that draws funds from the consumer's bank account. Cash registers supplied with Seamless' software interact directly with the shopper's mobile phone. The shopper must enter a four-digit PIN on the phone to authorize a payment.

Seamless recently launched SEQR in Belgium and Kuwait.
