Sionic Mobile, an Atlanta-based mobile commerce company, released its Shop2Give app to the public today. The new app is designed to enable nonprofits to raise funds through consumers' mobile payment activity.
The Shop2Give app allows users to make secure purchases at retail locations, with 2% of every purchase donated to a nonprofit, Sionic Mobile stated in a release. Users can also donate to the nonprofit directly.
Nonprofits will have access to the funds generated through the app within two days. Sionic charges a 1% flat processing fee per transaction.
The app is supported by more than 50,000 retail locations, including major retailers Barnes & Noble, JCPenney and Banana Republic. Restaurant chains such as Papa Johns and Burger King will also participate.
