Slyce, a two-year-old company that allows consumers to take pictures of items to make purchases, has launched a "visual shopping app" called Pounce.
The app, available to U.S. and Canadian iPhone owners, examines the photo and presents matching items from big-box retailers. Users tap the item to complete a purchase. Slyce says its app will also allow customers to take pictures of advertisements for similar results.
"Up to 50% of search is expected to be visually based in the next five years," said Mark Elfenbein, the chief executive officer of Slyce, in a press release.
Slyce also said it hopes to provide a version for Android users in the near future.
