Target Corp. has begun offering a variety of gifts cards that carry extra features, including one that is a 1.2 megapixel camera that comes with 40 free prints. The card is essentially a small camera that requires the consumer to purchase two AAA batteries to use. It cannot be swiped through a card reader, so it features a bar code on the back that can be scanned at the checkout to redeem the funds on the card. While Target does not charge a purchase fee for its gift cards, it does require consumers to put at least $50 on the camera gift card. Minneapolis-based Target also has cards that are filled with M&M's candy, play music, or double as a puzzle. Target gift cards do not expire and do not have monthly fees, the company says. Consumers also may load other Target gift cards with any amount from $5 to $2,000 when purchased in a store and from $10 to $1,000 when purchased online, the company says. Target also offers gift cards featuring 40% recycled materials and two biodegradable cards, the company says.
