Ukash Expands in Australia in Touch Network Pact

Online cash payment provider Ukash has partnered with the Touch network in Australia.

Nearly 10,000 chain and independent merchants that are part of Australia's Touch network will have access to Ukash voucher codes, enabling online payments for Australian shoppers who do not use a bank account or credit card.

The addition of Ukash voucher codes to Touch's capabilities will help merchants bring "a new audience of customers" into merchants' stores, says Touch founder, Keith Cleeve in a June 2 press release.

Ukash's e-commerce cash payment method enables buyers to purchase Ukash codes with cash in various retail outlets. These 19-digit codes can be used to pay on e-commerce sites or to reload prepaid cards and digital wallets.

Touch provides payment systems for banking, retail, telecommunications and government transactions in Australia, Europe and 12 countries in Asia Pacific.

The partnership further expands Ukash's global presence, says James Allum, chief commercial officer of Ukash, in the release. The London-based subsidiary of Smart Voucher Ltd. currently operates 460,000 physical point of purchase terminals in over 50 countries, including the recent addition of Poland. Allum has previously stated that Ukash's expansion strategy focuses outside of the U.S. market.
