The Vietnam Bank Card Association reportedly has postponed its plan to collect ATM transaction fees from cardholders. The plan, scheduled to start this month, would have imposed fees of at least 1,000 dong (6 U.S. cents or 4 euro cents) per transaction, according to the Vietnam News newspaper. The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, which helps manage Ho Chi Minh City, reportedly complained the move would deter state employees from using ATMs to withdraw funds. Salaries for such employees usually are paid directly into their bank accounts.
