Virtual Piggy, which provides alternative payments for minors, plans to repeat its promotional partnership with the online community Gaia Online.
The earlier campaign between the two companies attracted 10,000 new users to Virtual Piggy's payment system. Over 51,000 Gaia Online users purchased virtual items that were obtainable only through using Virtual Piggy during the earlier promotion. The companies plan to begin their next campaign April 1.
Virtual Piggy's system allows parents to set a monthly allowance for online spending. Parents can set controls such as spending limits for individual merchants. Virtual Piggy also has notifications and a method for parents to shut off access.
Virtual Piggy also provides Gaia Online and other clients with services for complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, or COPPA.
