Ellen Richey, who currently serves as Visa's chief risk officer and chief legal officer, will step down from those roles after Sept. 30 to assume the newly created position of vice chairman of risk and public policy. In her new role, Richey will act as Visa's voice in public discussions of payment security initiatives, working with regulators, legislators and clients. She will also manage Visa's approach to global crisis management.

Richey has held the position of chief legal officer since December, replacing the company's previous general counsel, Josh Floum. She has served as Visa's chief risk officer since October 2007.

Visa has hired Kelly Mahon Tullier to be its new general counsel. Tullier will join Visa as deputy general counsel on June 16 and transition to the role of general counsel on Oct. 1. Tullier currently serves as deputy general counsel at PepsiCo. Before that, she was general counsel for PepsiCo's Asia, Middle East and Africa division.
