Munich-based payment company Wirecard AG will support the implementation and financial processes behind the launch of Orange Cash in Spain.
Orange Cash, which is provided by Wirecard and the French telco Orange, functions similarly to Apple Pay on the user's end, allowing customers to transact at Near Field Communication terminals around Spain and Europe. The Orange Cash system, which launched last year in
"Orange's innovative spirit and our desire to offer our customers the most useful and advanced services at all times have led us to develop Orange Cash with Visa and Wirecard, our first foray into financial services from the mobile phone," said Javier Ramírez, Orange Spain's mobile banking and payments director, in a May 7 press release.
We are looking forward to supporting the Orange mobile payment initiative in Spain," Christian von Hammel-Bonten, Wirecard's executive vice president of telecommunications said in the release.
