Meet Jon Husted: One of Banking's Top Three Candidates

Partner Insights from

SALT LAKE CITY — Last month, Friends of Traditional Banking (FOTB) endorsed three top-notch candidates in some of the closest races in the country. In addition to former US Representative Mike Rogers seeking a US Senate seat in Michigan, and Representative Zach Nunn seeking reelection in Iowa, the SuperPAC has selected US Senator Jon Husted in Ohio.

"Jon is incredibly deserving of this endorsement from FOTB," said Michael J. Adelman, President and CEO of the Ohio Bankers League. "He is in the fight of his life against a career politician with appealing retail politics to populists." Senator Husted's 2026 special election against former Senator Sherrod Brown is a pure toss-up, and polls show tight margins. Brown has high name recognition and fundraising, so FOTB is inviting bankers from around the country to donate directly to Husted.

"Jon served on the board of directors of a community bank, so he knows firsthand the importance of traditional banks to our communities," Adelman said. "This shows up in the policies he supports. Jon has been easy to work with and grateful for the role banks serve in their communities throughout his career as a state representative, Speaker of the Ohio House, state senator, lieutenant governor and now U.S. Senator."

In fact, Husted consistently backs pro-growth, pro-industry policies. Retaining him ensures a voice friendly to financial services against Sherrod Brown's devastating record of open hostility to the industry. "I urge bankers from across the country to support Jon Husted in his challenging re-election fight," said Adelman.

Jon Husted, Ohio's junior U.S. Senator since his 2025 appointment to fill JD Vance's seat, is a proven statewide winner as former lieutenant governor, secretary of state, and state House speaker.
