GODIN: I was tapped on the shoulder, they said “Bard, we want you to be our next chief credit officer.” Recognizing that my background was in consumer and I was being asked to lead an organization that had a large commercial bank, a large corporate bank, and a smaller consumer bank, I had to learn along the way during my entire career, but particularly then, exactly what the corporate and commercial bank was all about. And rely on my skills coming from the consumer bank. It was a challenge, I studied every single night. I worked seven days a week, and it’s been one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done.
