"Never underestimate the power of a great pair of shoes and a pop of lipstick," Verba told the crowd at the 2017 Most Powerful Women in Banking gala Thursday night.
The right look can build confidence and credibility, she said.
Verba, a popular TD executive who is soon to retire from her banking career, accepted a Lifetime Achievement award at the event. She was one of several dynamic keynote speakers who made for a fun and lively evening.
VERBA: Never underestimate the power of a great pair of shoes and a pop of lipstick, ever. But think about it. Really, and I know there’re women here that are rolling their eyes. But, at the end of the day, if you wear a great pair of shoes, women will revere you, men will notice you, okay? You can stand up taller and look them in the eye, which really gives you a sense of confidence. Alright? And literally, dressing well, wearing a great pair of shoes and some make up does not make you any less a feminist.
