Yie Hsin-Hung, Chief Executive Officer, New York Life Investment Management

HUNG: I do see microaggressions. Being interrupted; it seems like such a small thing, but I’ve experienced it my whole career. It’s important to have your voice and have a point of view because that’s the reason why you’re in the room. If you’re being interrupted, best thing you can do is hold your ground.

Women often times are very thoughtful about what they want to contribute and so it’s just making sure that you get your point across. Us, as managers, have an obligation to make sure that we’re drawing out all the voices in the room and giving everyone a chance to speak because in this day and age, with so much change going on, no one person has all the answers.
