Connecticut Thrift To Cut Staff by 100

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- People's Bank said it expects to eliminate 100 to 120 jobs by yearend through a "voluntary separation program" for exempt managerial and professional employees.

People's, the largest thrift in Connecticut, with $6 billion in assets, said it expects the program to result in about $6 million of annual cost savings beginning in 1992.
