Goal Systems Buys Training America, a Rival Software Vendor
Goal Systems International Inc., a leading supplier of computer-based training courses to financial institutions, has acquired Training America Inc.
As part of the $650,000 deal, the Columbus, Ohio-based Goal Systems will sell Explain, Training America's on-line instructional software. Explain operates on mainframes from International Business Machines Corp. as well as on personal computers from a variety of vendors.
The acquisition is part of a strategy by Goal Systems to obtain more products that can run on personal computers, company officials said. Goal also recently acquired Teaching by Computer Inc., a computer-based training company that specializes in PC software for financial institutions.
Training America, based in White Plains, N.Y., had sales of about $2 million last year.
