Federal Reserve mulls call for more openess.

WASHINGTON -- Federal Reserve officials will consider an appeal to provide a more detailed record of closed-door meetings on monetary policy, House Banking Committee Chairman Henry Gonzales, D-Tex., said yesterday.

In a statement, Gonzales said he had been informed by a Federal Reserve Bank president "that the subject of making a full record of FOMC meetings would be discussed at the next FOMC meeting," which is scheduled for Nov. 17.

Gonzales asked Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan in October to allow videotape recordings of meetings by the Fed's 12-member policymaking unit, to be released 50 days later.
