WASHINGTON - Bear Steams & Co. said it acquired a 5% stake in First Bancorp of Indiana.
In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the unit of Bear Steams Cos. said it owns 56,204 common shares, including 25,739 purchased between Sept. 1 and Oct. 19 at prices ranging from $41.25 to $42.25 each.
Bear Steams said it acquired the stake for investment purposes.
