Cirrus is developing emergency services.

Cirrus System Inc., the international ATM network that is a unit of MasterCard International, announced it is developing a program to help cardholders get cash in emergency situations.

The program, which Cirrus plans to pilot next year, will provide consumers who hold bank-issued Cirrus ATM cards with several services.

These include supplying emergency replacements for ATM cards that are lost, stolen, or damaged; helping cardholders identify the nearest ATM that will accept the Cirrus card, and disbursing emergency cash to cardholders through express delivery services.

Executives at Cirrus, based in Westchester, Ill., declined to elaborate further on the services.
