Virginia's F&M takes over First National.

WINCHESTER, Va. - Shareholders of First National Bankshares Inc., Emporia, Va., approved its plan to merge into F&M National Corp. of Winchester. The transaction was completed on Aug. 31.

Each share of First National, which has $68 million of assets, was to be traded for 3,096 shares of F&M National common stock. F&M National Corp. has $1.2 billion of assets and eight banking affiliates with a total of 53 offices.
