Hancock lures back executive from Fidelity.

James V. Bowhers is returning to the John Hancock fold to head institutional sales and marketing for the financial services company's mutual funds unit.

He is rejoining Hancock as an executive vice. president, after a seven-year stint with Fidelity Investments. He will report to Edward J. Boudreau Jr., chief executive of John Hancock Mutual Funds.

Most recently, Mr. Bowhers was a senior vice president for marketing and client services with Fidelity Management Trust Co. He also served as a senior vice president for 401(k) retirement plan sales and marketing during his tenure with the Bostonbased mutual fund giant. At John Hancock Mutual Funds, Mr. Bowhers will also oversee marketing for 401 (k) plans.

"Jim played an instrumental role in growing Fidelity's institutional business," Mr. Boudreau said. "We are confident that he will do the same for us."

Before jumping to Fidelity, Mr. Bowhers worked at John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Co. for 14 years.
