NEW YORK -- Chemical Banking Corp. said it has issued nearly $2 million in grants to 564 nonprofit, community-based organizations. The program awards grants that usually range from $1,000 to $5,000. The grants are used to provide services in arts and culture, community revitalization, precollege education, and technical assistance.
The top five banks and thrifts have combined total assets of nearly $13 trillion.
