Texas cuts fees on state-chartered banks.

HOUSTON -- Texas statechartered banks' December quarterly regulatory assessment will be credited by the Texas Department of Banking against payments due next year.

Texas Banking Commissioner Catherine Ghiglieri said that, in addition to reducing regulatory assessments by 25% for 1995, trust exam fees will be reduced by 20%. She said Texas' state-chartered banks have improved asset quality and have grown in size, reducing overall regulatory costs.

Ms. Ghiglieri also cited the banking department's increased efficiency since 1993.
