Trade group offers unit trust guide.

The Investment Company Institute has published a booklet for consumers that explains how unit investment trusts work.

The eight-page booklet, "On Track with Unit Investment Trusts," was produced in response to growing demand for information about the investments, the Washington-based trade group said.

The booklet covers the key differences between unit investment trusts and better known investment products such as mutual funds.

It also explains how to buy and sell unit trusts. what fees and expenses to expect, and how the investments are regulated and organized.

Individual copies of the booklet are available from the institute upon request.
