Cards briefs: First Data Names Chief Of Payment Instruments

HACKENSACK, N.J. - First Data Corp. named Henry T. DeNero executive vice president and a member of the company's executive committee. He will be responsible for the company's payment instrument business, including MoneyGram money orders, official checks, cash management, and utility remittance service.

Charles T. Fote, currently executive vice president of those businesses and an executive committee member, was named to head a transition team which will oversee First Data's planned merger with First Financial Management Corp. The companies are awaiting regulatory and shareholder approvals for the merger that was announced June 13.

Mr. DeNero was vice chairman and chief financial officer of Dayton Hudson Corp. He will assume his new position Sept. 1 at First Data's Englewood, Colo., offices.

First Data is the world's largest credit card processor. Its business includes related services to the transaction card, payment instruments, mutual fund, teleservices, receivables, and information management industries.
