In Brief: BT Financial Acquiring Huntington Unit in Pa.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - BT Financial Corp. has agreed in principle to buy the Pennsylvania subsidiary of Huntington Bancshares, Columbus, Ohio, for cash.

No price was released, and the two parties must still reach a definitive agreement, subject to regulatory approval.

Under the informal agreement, $115 million-asset Huntington National Bank of Pennsylvania, Uniontown, will merge with Fayette Bank, a unit of BT that is also based in Uniontown.

The merger is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

BT is the $1.1 billion-asset holding company for three banks serving 11 counties in southwestern Pennsylvania.
