Short Takes: New Marketing Chief For Some PNC Funds

PNC Bank Corp., Pittsburgh, has reached into its ranks for a new director of marketing at a subsidiary that subadvises some of its equity mutual funds.

J.H. Hill Jr. jumps to PNC Equity Advisors from a sister company, Provident Capital Management, where he held the same title. Both units are based in Philadelphia.

Mr. Hill succeeds John W. Conlin, who also served as director of institutional equity marketing for PNC Asset Management Group, a PNC subsidiary and holding company for PNC Equity Advisors. Mr. Conlin left Aug. 1 to pursue other job opportunities, said a PNC spokesman.

Mr. Hill will retain some of his duties at Provident, but his main marketing focus will be promoting the banking company's small- and large- capitalization proprietary mutual funds.

PNC Equity Advisors is the subadviser to several fund portfolios, including the popular PNC Small Cap Growth Equity Portfolio. The advisory unit manages more than $3 billion in assets and advises $6.3 billion in trust assets for PNC.
