SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Dennis G. Uyemura, chief financial officer of Silicon Valley Bank, has resigned to pursue a career in management consulting.

Mr. Uyemura has been retained by Silicon Valley Bank as a consultant on a financial management program being developed for the bank, which specializes in financing high-tech and venture capital companies.

The program is being developed by Stern Stewart & Co., a New York-based management consulting firm, which has also retained Mr. Uyemura as a consultant to several of its other clients.

John C. Dean, chief executive of Silicon Valley, said Mr. Uyemura had helped the bank streamline and upgrade its financial management function since he joined it in 1994.
