Roundup: Keycorp Keeps On Rockin' with Name Game

CLEVELAND - In its second such announcement in a week, Keycorp said it has paid $2 million to put its name on the plaza outside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

The naming rights are good for 10 years, officials said.

Last week, Keycorp said it paid more than $15 million to have the Seattle Center Coliseum renamed the Key Arena. Those naming rights are good for 15 years.

The 65,00O-square foot plaza, which serves as the main entrance to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, will be called "Key Plaza."

The center's mailing address will appear as The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Key Plaza, Cleveland, OH 44114.

The 150,000-square-foot facility, designed by architect I.M. Pei, is scheduled to open in September.

As part of the naming rights agreement, the Keycorp name and logo will be displayed on signage at Key Plaza, and the mailing address will appear on programs, stationery, advertisements, and other printed materials. Keycorp will also provide automatic teller machines throughout the museum.

"It's a unique opportunity to display Keycorp's name to the millions of people who will visit the Hall of Fame and see materials with the Key Plaza address. We believe this association will help increase awareness of the banking and financial services Keycorp provides coast to coast," said Henry L. Meyer 3d, senior executive vice president and chief banking officer.

Cleveland-based Keycorp has 1,300 bank offices in 25 states.
