In Brief: Va.'s F&M National Buys Bank of Potomac

WINCHESTER, Va. - F&M National Corp. completed its acquisition of Bank of the Potomac in Herndon, Va.

The merger, effected with a stock swap, was the latest in a string of deals done by F&M in Virginia and the closest to the Washington, D.C., area. Bank of the Potomac, a seven-year-old bank with $57.6 million in assets, will become the 11th banking affiliate of F&M. F&M now has $1.6 billion in assets.
