JACKSONVILLE - Ideon Group Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to purchase American Express' Optima Regional Operating Center.
Ideon, formerly SafeCard Services Inc., had announced its intention to pursue this acquisition last December
The company said it will pay about $39 million for the operating center, which includes a 350,000 square-foot building and related infrastructure on 35 acres, along with a vacant 25-acre parcel.
Ideon will relocate its corporate headquarters and all Jacksonville operations to the center after the closing, which is expected to be in early 1996. The company may begin leasing some of the center before that time, and American Express may lease some space after the closing.
