Thomson Executive to Lead American Banker-Bond Buyer

Gerald Mintz has been named president and chief executive officer of American Banker-Bond Buyer, effective Oct. 1.

Mr. Mintz, a senior vice president of the company's parent, Thomson Financial Services, succeeds David Branch, who has announced he will retire at the end of this year.

American Banker-Bond Buyer, based in New York, publishes American Banker, The Bond Buyer, Securities Industries News, and a number of financial industry newsletters.

Mr. Branch has led the company since 1992. Under his guidance, the unit has enhanced its leadership position among publications covering financial services.

Mr. Mintz joined Thomson Financial in 1993 as president of its asset- backed securities group. Last September, he was named senior vice president of acquisitions and development.

"I am very excited about this opportunity at ABBB," Mr. Mintz said. "The changes occurring in the industry are redefining the roles of traditional financial institutions and are creating opportunities to expand our franchise."

He added that he is excited by the possibilities presented by the Internet and feels "very fortunate to be working with the great team that David Branch has put together."

Before joining Thomson Financial, Mr. Mintz held senior posts at EJV Partners, a fixed-income data business, and Telerate. He holds a doctorate in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto.

Thomson Financial Services, a leading provider of financial information, is a unit of the Toronto-based Thomson Corp.
