In Brief: Bankers' Banks Racked Up Record Growth in 1st Half

The bankers' banks, the 16 bank-owned correspondent banking outfits, had record asset and earnings growth in the first half of 1996, according to Helge Christensen, president of the Wisconsin Bankers' Bank, who collects data on them.

June 30 assets totaled $1.6 billion, 15.8% more than a year earlier. Earnings in the half totaled $5.78 million, up 26%.

Assets under administration - mostly investment portfolios managed for community banks - increased 38%, to $5.8 billion.
