NationsBank, Grocer Plan Banking Centers

NationsBank Corp. said it has signed a multiyear agreement to install 20 in-store banking centers and ATMs in Harris Teeter grocery stores.

The centers will offer a range of consumer and business financial products, including retirement planners and checking accounts.

Greg Ambro, Harris Teeter's senior vice president of finance and treasurer, said the chain's Charlotte customers had expressed interest in using in-store banking services.

The retailer's Morrocroft store, expected to open in early 1997, will be the first with a NationsBank full-service center.

Harris Teeter Inc., a subsidiary of Ruddick Corp., has 134 stores inNorth Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee.

NationsBank, which is based in Charlotte, has $187.7 billion of assets.
