PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Pulse Promotes Two Company Veterans to Executive VP

The Pulse EFT Association, which runs the Pulse automated teller machine network in the Southwest, has promoted two executives, Cindy Ballard and Warren Coles, to senior posts.

Ms. Ballard, 39, who has worked at the company for 14 years, was named executive vice president and chief administrative officer.

Mr. Coles, 38, an eight-year veteran of the company, was promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Both appointments were made in January but announced this month.

The two executives report to Stanley Paur, president and chief executive of Pulse.

In her new post, Ms. Ballard oversees day-to-day operations, including administrative and marketing affairs of the company. Her areas of oversight include human resources, company insurance, 401(k) plans and related issues, as well as point of sale marketing and membership development.

Ms. Ballard, who also is secretary to the board of directors, was previously senior vice president of corporate affairs.

Mr. Coles is responsible for all operations and technical aspects of the company, including new products and services. He also is chairman of the operations committee.

Mr. Coles most recently was senior vice president of operations; he helped develop an off-line debit product.

"Pulse is expanding in terms of services," said Ms. Ballard. The promotions are part of a push to "bring depth to the company in terms of staffing," she said.

The Pulse network, with more than 1,750 member banks, covers Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Mississippi. It comprises 14,000 ATMs and 37,500 point of sale terminals.
