A community bank has agreed to buy 10 NationsBank Corp. branches in small and midsize Oklahoma cities.
BancFirst, with $1.3 billion of assets, is still negotiating the terms with $240.4 billion-asset NationsBank, but the companies expect to complete the deal in the first quarter.
David Rainbolt, president and chief executive of state-chartered BancFirst, said it and Charlotte, N.C.-based NationsBank are discussing which parts of the branches' deposits, loans, and physical structures would be included in the sale.
Mr. Rainbolt said the branches are a good "strategic fit" for BancFirst. BancFirst, the largest state-chartered bank based in Oklahoma City, operates 52 branches in 26 communities.
