CEO ResignsAt Pa.'s Harris; Durrell Picked To Be Successor

William J. McLaughlin resigned as president and chief executive officer of Harris Financial Inc., Harrisburg, Pa., and its Harris Savings Bank, which promoted James Durrell to those posts on an acting basis pending the resignation's Nov. 1 effective date.

Mr. Durrell, 61, was executive vice president and chief financial officer of the parent company, which he joined as CFO in 1988 when it was called Harris Savings Association. Before that he was CFO at Commonwealth National Bank.

Mr. McLaughlin, 60, resigned after 19 years with the company. Mr. Durrell's new titles become permanent after Nov. 1.

Joseph Arthur, vice president and treasurer of Harris Savings Bank, becomes acting CFO and assumes Mr. Durrell's former duties. Harris Financial has $2.1 billion of assets.
