Citizens of R.I. Names Former Clinton Aide To Its Board

Citizens Financial Group, Providence, R.I., has elected Eli J. Segal to its board of directors.

Mr. Segal, 54, had been assistant to President Clinton from January 1993 through February 1996, and created the President's AmeriCorps National Service initiative. He is currently chairman of the Corporation for National Service.

In 1992, he was chief of staff for the Clinton-Gore campaign, and chief financial officer for the transition between administrations.

In a separate announcement, Citizens' Boston-based operations, Citizens Bank of Massachusetts, has hired David B. Woonton as its Northwest regional president.

The bank said he will head the commercial lending operations at the Edgewater Office Park in Wakefield, Mass., which covers Middlesex and Essex counties.

Mr. Woonton was vice president of the commercial markets group at Fleet Bank New Hampshire, responsible for cash management sales, middle market lending, government finance and asset-based lending. He had been a commercial lender at Shawmut Bank in Boston.
