Bank of New York Promotes Top Trust Exec

Bank of New York Co. promoted Charlie E. Rappold, its chief trust officer and a onetime corporate counsel, to chief administration officer.

In his new position Mr. Rappold oversees auditing, legal affairs, marketing and advertising, public relations, and the office of the secretary for the $61 billion-asset banking company. He reports to Thomas A. Renyi, president.

Assuming Mr. Rappold's former duties is senior vice president John S. Lipori, who was in charge of trust in New York City.
