Admiralty of Fla. Hires 5 Lenders From Bank That Wachovia Bought

Admiralty Bank in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., whose new chief executive came from a Boca Raton bank that Wachovia Corp. bought, has hired five of his former colleagues.

The North Carolina company bought United Bancorp and its 1st United Bank last November. 1st United was merged into Wachovia Bank at the start of July-about the time the five lenders moved to $40 million-asset Admiralty Bank.

William Burke was a senior vice president and a regional senior lending officer at 1st United. Admiralty hired him as its executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Dennis Gavin, Anne Paddock, John Oliver, and Dave Englert were vice presidents and commercial loan officers at 1st United. Admiralty hired Mr. Gavin and Ms. Paddock as senior vice presidents; he will be senior lending officer, she head of loan administration. Mr. Oliver and Mr. Englert were named vice president/regional managers.

Ward Kellogg, who became Admiralty's president and chief executive officer this month, had been executive vice president and chief credit officer at 1st United.
