SECURITIES: Fed proposals to ease so-called section 23(a) restrictions on banks that buy securities from affiliated broker-dealers and that extend credit to customers of an affiliated section 20 unit. Both proposals were published June 16. Comments were due July 21.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: Exam Council proposal to modify the Uniform Interagency Rating System for Data Processing Operations. Under the plan, ratings of banks' information technology systems would conform to the Camels system. Published June 9. Comments were due Aug. 10.

SMALL-BUSINESS LOANS: Small Business Administration proposal to require banks selling the nonguaranteed portion of 7(a) loans to retain a percentage of the credit. Published May 18. Comments were due July 17.
